Eyeshadow: old looks from Nov & Dec

Hi guys. To finish of the year, I thought I'd do a retrospective of looks that I hadn't gotten around to publishing yet. All of these are from November and December (I think) when I was at my busiest. Unfortunately, that also means I won't be able to remember what I used in most of them, but I've tried my hardest. So without further ado, here we go.

Eyeshadow: gold & orange

Happy holidays everyone! I trust you're all enjoying a break from work/studies/life in general? Sadly, I'm working through the Christmas and New Year's break, but I'm lucky enough to be doing so from home, which is pretty good. As a result, I've been getting up and just slapping on minimal makeup, and often forgetting to take photos at all. Today I succeeded in snapping pictures of my quick, five-minute eye makeup.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! It's officially Christmas Day here in Australia, so I hope you all have a happy holiday season and an awesome new year.

So I'll make this quick, as I have family to entertain. Today's Christmas makeup is mostly Fyrinnae eyeshadows. I've also got a very simple mani to show you guys.

Oh hi there. Remember me?

Hi there guys. I've missed you all so much! I know life sometimes gets in the way and it's been overwhelming me a lot lately. Seriously, the last post I did was on my birthday and I feel awful. It's not that I don't love you guys or anything. :)

So the news is good: at work we've just hired a new person, which will take a huge load off my shoulders and give me some breathing room. That means I'll be back to posting more regularly and I'll actually have the time to take a look at what all of you have been up to in my absence.

In other news, I'll actually be going overseas for three weeks as of January 8, so I'll aim to get some funky stuff scheduled for you all. I'll be able to check my email and reply to comments, so I'll still be in touch. until then, expect some colour and sparkle coming at ya!

Happy birthday to me!

It's my birthday today! I'm at work so I thought I'd sneak in a post about the makeup I wore today. Shh, don't tell anyone! I'm not going to crap on like I usually do so I'll get on with it. I used Fyrinnae Arcane Magic eyeshadow in Mystical Hedgehog all over the lid and along the lower lashline over Pixie Epoxy. The rest is eyeshadows from the Sleek Bad Girl palette (the two purples).

Mystical Hedgehog is purple with blue-green sparkle that turns pink!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! It's not a holiday we really celebrate in Australia, but my partner and I always decorate the outside of the house to let the kids in the neighbourhood know that it's cool to stop by for lollies. I was originally meant to work from home today, but ended up having to come into the office, so I couldn't really do the zombie-style makeup I was going to do. I thought I'd be clever and wear Fyrinnae's 'Are you my mummy?' so it's got the Halloween link anyway. As a bonus, I've also got a mani for you!

Two different kinds of green. Shimmer ahoy!

Eyeshadow: blue & Fyrinnae magic

I was so excited when my Fyrinnae (www.fyrinnae.com) parcel arrived the other day! I got a bunch of the latest shades including the star of today's post, Mermaid Masquerade. I kept the rest of the look simple because this beautiful, complex eyeshadow is definitely the focus.

Eyeshadow: yellow, orange and black

I had the urge to wear yellow recently. I was going to just use my Sleek Ultra Mattes V1 palette for this, but decided I wanted some shimmer in the look, so I whipped out my sample of Crusader from Femme Fatale Cosmetics. It was just what I was looking for! Bright yet shimmery. I teamed it with some matte orange and a bit of black so as not to detract from the lid colour.

Eyeshadow: purple & burgundy

I did this look very quickly using my Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 Darks palette and my new Too Faced Poison Orchid eyeshadow that I got on my recent visit to Melbourne. I'd given Poison Orchid a test run over a dark silvery grey base (Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in Steel), but not on its own. It's so pretty!

Eyeshadow: greens & Melbourne goodies

Hey everyone! I'm back from my little break and feeling much refreshed. I've been catching up on all of your blogs and doing a lot of reading, so now it's time to update my little corner of the web. As you know, I was in Melbourne for a few days (I adore that city!) and while I was there I picked up some beauty goodies. Not too much, but I grabbed a few pretties.

Left to right: Too Faced eyeshadow in Poison Orchid, Estee Lauder Pure Color eyeshadow in Ivy (yes, ancient packaging) and Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Bedaub.

Taking a mini break

Hey guys! I'm going to be in the wild. Literally, that is. For those who may not know, this coming weekend is a long weekend in Australia, so I'm going camping. That obviously means no technology, so don't try to miss me too much.

Beyond that, I'll be going to Melbourne for a few days next week. While I'll still be AWOL from my blog, I hope to get some nice makeup goodies like a good little blogger and share the love when I return. I also hope to catch up on everyone else's awesome blogs so I'll be ready to get back in the swing of things.

Eyeshadow: dark smoky eye

I decided to go for the opposite look from my last one and go for a dark smoky eye. I haven't used my Chanel Mirifique all over before, only as a liner, so that's what I did today. Because Mirifique is so glittery, I decided to keep the rest of the look matte.

Eyeshadow: barely there nude

If you're anything like me, sometimes you just can't be arsed doing anything amazing. This look is from yesterday and I was in a hurry so I put it together in about 5 minutes. It's inspired by a look Tracy from Beauty Reflections did a few days ago featuring Nude Beach from Bare Escentuals. I haven't worn this mineral eyeshadow in ages and it's actually one of the first ones I ever owned. So I grabbed it and thought this shimmery colour would be a great way to make a boring look more interesting.

Nails: Sally Hansen nail polish strips

I bought a set of Sally Hansen nail polish strips a couple of months ago when they were on special at Priceline, but I didn't get around to trying them out until just now. I got #208 Blue Ice, which is a steel blue glitter polish. It looks cool and I like the idea of it. Maybe it's just me, but I found it quite fiddly and annoying to apply.

Eyeshadow: some new FFC colours

As you guys know, I love Femme Fatale Cosmetics (http://femmefatalecosmetics.com.au) and just recently, the company released five new sets of eyeshadows: The Lord of the Centuries, The Mistress of Dreams, The Queen of Life, The Spellweaver and The Worldbreaker. There are five eyeshadows in each collection and I ordered the complete sample set. The following three looks are done using these colours. I chose the colours that I wanted to wear together, not based on collection, so I'll do my best to accurately tell you which collections they're from.

For the first look, I used two eyeshadows from the Worldbreaker collection.

Nails: Models Prefer Hickery & Zoya Fei Fei

So I actually bothered to do something mildly creative wit my nails this week. I recently got a set of five Models Own mini nail polishes in really dark colours (but no green! Poo), so I decided to give it a go. They were a bargain at $7.95 from Priceline. I teamed it with a new Zoya polish from the Diva collection, Fei Fei.

Eyeshadow: more Sugarpill!

Some more Sugarpill for you today! I got a couple of loose eyeshadows when I got my Heart Breaker palette, so here are a couple of looks using my newest sparklies. I also mentioned previously that I had gotten my hands on a Maybelline Color Tattoo, so I have photos of that as well, since I used it as a base in one of these looks. So on to the pics.

Nails: Butter London Knackered

Last week I finally got around to wearing Butter London's Knackered. It's such a pretty colour, even though it kind of looks a little meh in the bottle. It's not just a silvery grey with holographic glitter in it. It's got an awesome duochrome that's really hard to see from my crappy photo of the bottle. The other photos are much better and show its prettiness better. I just wish I'd thought to take photos out in the sun so you can see its full amazingness.

Eyeshadow: Sugarpill Heart Breaker palette

So I finally got my hands on the newest Sugarpill (http://www.sugarpillshop.com) Heart Breaker palette! Everyone under the sun has this palette now, so you know all there is to know about it already. It's awesome. In this post I'll just shut up and show you some of the looks I've done with it.

Eyeshadow: matte orange, pink & purple

I've used the Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 palette to death, but still only used my V1 palette sporadically. I felt the urge to go bright since the sun has started coming out and teasing us with spring weather. This is the look I wore to work on Friday. I really like this palette so I don't know why I havemn't used it more. I will, don't worry about that! Anyway, this look is all matte. No glitter or anything, just the lovely matte shadows from this palette on their own.

Nails: Models Own Purple Blue Beetle Juice

Another new nail polish for you today! This one is the much-hyped Purple Blue from the Models Own Beetle Juice collection. Yes, this was out months ago but it's new to me. I have to say the it's worth the hype. It's a fabulous colour (colours, really) and it sparkles and shifts like magic. It was also fairly cheap, if I remember correctly.

Eyeshadow: four looks from this week

Phew, what a busy week! I'm sorry I've neglected you guys, so here are four looks from the last week. I'm so hopeless I can't even remember all the makeup I used. I remember most of it, though. Sorry about the weird colours in the pictures. The auto correction in my software went haywire depending on the eyeshadow, so trust me, my skintone isn't snow white or red! Anyway, on to the looks. Most of these use goodies from my epic overseas haul.

Nails: Barry M Teal

So I'm a little behind on this, but the nail polish I wore last week was Barry M Teal. It's the first of my nail polishes that I got on my overseas trip and it's a stunner. As usual, the colour doesn't look quite right in these pictures. Teal is a metallic turquoise, so it's not quite as blue as it appears here. It's a fabulous colour and the formula was a dream. This is my first Barry M nail polish but it most certainly won't be my last.

Eyeshadow: burgundy sparkle

Today's look is bright and sparkly, but very simple. I used my new goodies once again (are you guys getting bored of this yet? Let me know) and not much else. I did this for work, so it had to be quick and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

It's a bright mixture of mattes and glitter. Win!

Eyeshadow: purple, purple & more purple!

I still have new goodies from my overseas trip that I haven't used! Today I've used another new item: my Too Faced eyeshadow in Midnight Mist, which is an amazing duochrome. In my pictures it looks blue, but it shifts purple and the sparkle in it can even look blue or pink, depending on the angle you look at it. It's an awesome colour and it's really nice quality, so I regret that I didn't pick up Poison Plum at the same time. I was telling myself I had too many purples, so I passed on it. I won't be listening to the voice of reason anymore!

Eyeshadow: neutral sparkle

Today's look is a quick, neutral eye with a little bit of added sparkle. I used two new goodies from my overseas haul: the MUA eyeshadow in #11 and the Inglot body sparkles in #68. The rest of the look was done using the Urband Decay Naked 2 palette. I was meeting some friends for brunch so I wanted something quick and easy, but still 'me', hence the added glitter!

I applied MUA #11 all over the lid and along the lower lashline. I used Tease from Naked 2 in the crease, as well as a little busted at the outer crease. I then swept Foxy on my browbone. I dabbed a teeny bit of Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy on the centre of the lid and then gentle pressed a very small amount of Inglot #68 on top. Liner and mascara and voila!

Nails: piCture pOlish Blog Fest

Hey guys. I bet you've been wondering why I haven't put up any nail polish posts in the last week. That's because as soon as I got home from holidays, I had a package arrive from piCture pOlish: it's Blog Fest! I've been trying out two brand-new polishes that I was sent for this year's Blog Fest: Demeter and Dorothy. There are 11 new polishes launching as of today from piCture pOlish itself, as well as its Network Members for those of you not based in Australia. Some shades are just new, while others have been created in collaboration with Network Members, hence the Collaboration Collection.

So first up, we have Demeter. This polish was created jointly with Katie from Harlow & Co and is available exclusively from piCture pOlish online and Harlow & Co. It's a rich chocolate brown with gorgeous, fine holographic glitter in it. You guys know how meh I am about brown nail polish, but this one has changed my mind. It's awesome! I think I just needed to find the right shade. The application was nice and smooth, and with amazing coverage: this is just two coats.

Eyeshadow: coral

Time to show off another one of my new eyeshadows! I'm wearing the new L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow (Magnetic Coral) I got in my overseas haul. I also used my Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 palette, which I just can't get enough of. I was in a hurry to get ready for work, so I did this in a hurry. My eyes were also really bloodshot and freaky, but I'm pleased they calmed down a bit for these photos.

Eyeshadow: dark purple/grey smoky eye

Today's look turned out a bit darker than I expected. I still like it, though, and it's been ages since I've done a look this dark. I used more new goodies from my overseas trip. It was really easy to do this look and I used just a few eyeshadows, even though my crappy pictures make it look as though it's all one colour.

I first applied the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe all over the lid and along the lower lashline. I then gently patted Inglot DS459 on top of the taupe. I then used Thunder and Noir from the Ultra Mattes V2 palette in the crease and finished with Dune on the brow bone. I used Noir as liner along the top lashline and added a touch of silver liner to the inner corner to brighten it up.

Eyeshadow: matte blues & glitter

On Saturday night I went to see The Tea Party, bronchitis or no. I'm so glad I did! They were amazing. I can't believe it's been seven years since they were together. I was in heaven. Anyway, because I was excited to be going out and because I wanted to make myself feel better, I went to a little more effort for my makeup than I normally would for a concert (it's dark and you get hot and sweaty, so why bother?). I used both of my new Sleek palettes for this look: Ultra Mattes V1 and V2.

Eyeshadow: Tokidoki Adieu palette

As requested by Vintage, I've done a look using my new Tokidoki Cromatico palette in Adieu from my overseas haul (see post here). It's all pinks and purples, which makes this very easy to wear. The only problem was the white highlight colour (Carina), which is remeniscent of Urban Decay's Uzi with its chunky glitter fallout. I ended up tapping off most of the glitter in the end and the shimmery white shadow itself is quite nice. The rest of the shadows were nice and smooth, and very easy to blend.

Haul: holiday nail polishes (pic heavy)

Hey everyone! As promised, here is the mega post of nail polish that I got from Europe. I got a total of 13, which is quite heavy, so I ended up posting 10 of them home. Luckily for me, they all survived the trip unscathed. The other three I bought after I'd sent the others. I kind of went nuts, but I got polish from brands I can't get here and that I've never even heard of before. As always, the colours don't show up exactly right in the pictures, but I think they're OK. Just some of the extra special sparkle or duochrome might not be as apparent. Anyway, here we go!

Eyeshadow: Sleek Ultra Mattes palette V2 Darks

I was eager to start playing with my new goodies from overseas straight away, so I've done a couple of looks using mainly the Sleek i-Divine Ultra Mattes palette V2 Darks. I can't describe how lovely and smooth these mattes apply! Especially when you consider how cheap Sleek makeup is. I've done two looks: one I wore yesterday and another from today. I'm in love with this palette and I'm really surprised because I adore my shimmers. Who knew a matte palette could be so awesome? Consequently, I'm eager to try the V1 Brights palette now.

Here it is in all its awesomeness. A great range of colours to choose from.

Haul: holiday makeup goodies (pic heavy)

As promised, this is a post of all the makeup goodies I bought on my European trip. I got something in pretty much every country I went to, so there's a lot here! I also got a lot of nail polish on this trip, but I've decided to do that as a separate post. So here goes.

I'm back!

Hey guys, I'm back from my holiday! I had a wonderful time and I'm already thinking about which countries I want to visit the next time I go to Europe (no idea when that might be, though). I'm sort of happy to be back since I was starting to develop a cough right at the end. I went to the doctor and it turns out it's bronchitis. Ugh! Oh well, at least it didn't affect my holiday.

I'm sorting through all the goodies I bought and trying to take photos of everything so I can post them on here. I may also put a couple of holiday pics on here as a separate post, in case anyone is interested in seeing what I got up to. Basically, I bought a lot of nail polish and eyeshadow on this trip. There were a few other bits and pieces, but those were the most fun purchases.

So, I hope to hear from you all soon and attempt to catch up on your blogs to see what I've been missing since I've been away. Later!

Eyeshadow: three new looks & a (temporary) farewell

So first things first. As you all know I've been having a terrible time at work lately. While I've been busy the last couple of weeks, things have slowly improved so that it's not so hectic. Phew! I'm still trekking into the city every day for work, but there'll be opportunities for me to work from home every now and then, which I'm looking forward to.

I've been away for a couple of weeks so to make up for it, I have three looks to share with you all today. However, I'll then have to say a short farewell as my trip to Europe is in a little over 24 hours! I'm so excited. It's not a massive trip, since it's only three weeks, but it's my first to Europe since I was little (so it doesn't count). I'm spending some time in Helsinki, London, Paris, Stockholm and Prague. Hopefully I'll return with a ton of European cosmetics and inundate you all with pics and looks once I return.

Eyeshadow: pinkish purple/blue duochrome

Holy crap! This is post number 300! Who would have thought  I could ramble on for so long? I'm still surprised every day that so many of you enjoy reading my rambling in the first place. Thanks for sticking with me, guys! I appreciate it so much. So for this momentus occasion, I've got an awesome duochrome eyeshadow to show off. This whole look was created using Femme Fatale Cosmetics (http://femmefatalecosmetics.com.au) eyeshadows and the Wet n Wild Petal Pusher palette.

I recently got a few of the latest FFC eyeshadows (bad timing, since a few more new ones came out like two days after I placed my order!). I also got the complete sample set of the Gemtone Collection, a collection of white eyeshadows with different coloured duochrome sheen. I'll have to do another order soon because I desperately need a full-size version of Dispersion!

Nails: Illamasqua Stance & Butter London The Black Knight

Hey everyone, look at this! A post! It's been a long time coming, but I thought I'd start off with an easy one. I haven't been doing much with my nails lately, but this time I decided to get off my butt and change all that.

Update: why I've been AWOL

Hey everyone. This is just a super quick post to let you all know I'm still around. I haven't been able to check out anyone's blogs or do anything on mine due to work. Ugh. It sucks when work encroaches on your life and I'm sorry I sort of vanished without a trace. To say I've been busy is an understatement! Example: on Monday night I got home from work at 11pm, went to bed and then got up the next day to do it all over again. It won't be for long and I'm pretty sure that next week I'll be back in business. So thank you all for bearing with me. I miss you all so much! I'll catch you all real soon.

Eyeshadow: four old looks

Hi again everyone! Sorry I've been away, but I've been busy... planning my very first (very short) trip to Europe! I'm so excited. I leave at the end of June, so if you guys have suggestions for makeup brands I need to check out, please let me know. I'll be visiting Finland, England, France, Sweden and the Czech Republic. I plan to check out Sephora in France, of course, as well as Boots and things like that. Let me know if there's somewhere I need to visit!

All of these looks are from a few months ago. They were on a media card and I pretty much forget everything that was used. Sorry! At least with this first look I remember I used Aromaleigh Tracy (Fall Tapestry) on the lid.

Nails: nail polish mega post

I've been slack with the nail polish posts lately, so I've got three weeks worth of manis, although I've done some layering, so it looks like there's more than that.

First up, the amazing Ascalon from the A England (http://a-england.co.uk/) Legends collection. Ascalon is a holographic grey with a flash of purple duochrome. So amazing. It's got the usual incredibly smooth and even A England formula that dries nice and quickly. This was two coats.

Eyeshadow: golden green, purple and grey shimmer

I used some more of my Victorian Disco Cosmetics eyeshadows today, along with one of my new Revlon Diamond Lust eyeshadows, which worked much better for me this time around. It was all shimmery and not too dark, with the palest colour on the lid.

Eyeshadow: lazy green look

I call this look lazy because I only used one eyeshadow for this look (apart from the brow highlight). It's green, it's sparkly and I love it.
