Eyeshadow: Napoleon Quick Silver

I recently bought a new cream eyeshadow that I simply couldn't resist. It's from the Napoleon Metalika collection and it's called Quick Silver. It's an odd choice for a name, since it's a flesh-toned colour with an insane amount of glitter and sparkle. It also doesn't budge once it's set, which is awesome. The only problem is the price at $35. However, considering you only need the teeniest amount (yes, I accidentally used too much for my swatch pic), it'll probably last for years.

A neutral colour with ridiculous amounts of shimmer.

Eyeshadow: Naked 2 palette!

By now, everyone on the planet has seen the Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. A bunch of probably own it, too. However, those of us who live in countries that don't stock Urban Decay have to wait until they're available for order through overseas web site. I'm happy to report that I've jumped on the bandwagon and am now the proud owner of the Naked 2 palette.

Nails: Zoya Ki

Last week (yes, I'm that far behind), I wore Zoya Ki for the first time. It looked nice in the end, only I stuffed up the application so it looked like crap. However, the colour shift from purple to green is totally awesome. It's an older polish, I believe an because of that, the formula wasn't as good as the more recent Zoyas I've tried.

Eyeshadow: mauve, dark blue & glitter

This look is actually from the weekend: I took photos and then kind of forgot about it. I wore this shopping with my sister and I actually got quite a few compliments from sales assistants, which was nice. One even asked me if I was a makeup artist! Haha. Anyway, I used two Venomous Cosmetics eyeshadows for the main look and added just a little bit of Victorian Disco Cosmerics glitter to make it sparkle.

eyeshadow: dark blurple

I needed to inject a bit of colour into my life so I gave a new Barry M Dazzle Dust a go the other day. It's called Black Purple, although it's definitely more blue than purple to me. It really depends on the light. So it's quite dark, but has colour, plus it was quite simple to achieve.

My spirits need a little lifting these days so I'll be cracking open the super-bright colours again soon. Uh, that is, after I've given my new Naked 2 palette a whirl. Yes, I caved and got the thing. It's really quite lovely, but without having used it yet, I can't comment on its difference or similarity to the original palette. I do have to say that it looks impressive at first glance, though. Anyway, onto the look

Eyeshadow: Victorian Disco look

I wanted to try out some more of my Victorian Disco Cosmetics eyeshadows, along with my new Sleek Storm palette. I didn't really give it the love it deserves, but I've popped its cherry at least. I got a few pretty bits and pieces a couple of weeks ago when Crush Cosmetics (www.crushcosmetics.com.au) had their 20% off sale. You'll find pictures of the Victorian Disco eyeshadows in my review post here.

Eyeshadow: e.l.f. eyeshadow duo

I my February GlossyBox, I received an e.l.f. eyeshadow duo, which is sadly the only really worthwhile item in it. I'm not sure what it's called, as I can't find the duos on the e.l.f. web site (www.elfcosmetics.com.au) and it's actually labelled incorrectly as Basic Quad 4. It's two shimmery shades of grey in any case.

A medium and darker grey duo. There are small pieces of glitter in both shadows, too.

Update: where have I been?

Hey guys. Well, there have been a whole lot of changes at work, which has affected pretty much everything in my life at this stage. In the last week, my boss of 10 years has been made redundant, the group of people I work with all have new roles and responsibilities, and I personally have been assigned a truckload of extra work for no extra pay, of course. To add insult to injury, until we all get used to our new positions, there'll be no working from home for a few months, which is what I've been doing for the last year or so: three weeks at home and then one week in the city.

Until I get used to the whole thing, I doubt I'll be able to post as often as I have been for these past few months. This sucks because I really enjoy it. Apart from that, catching up on other people's blogs is going to be a struggle, but I hope to be able to get the done on the weekends. Please don't think I don't love you anymore, I really do!

The other thing is I'm a really bad sleeper and getting up early every day and spending two hours travelling to and from work isn't helping. I struggle to sleep properly even when I have no reason to get up early! Sleeping in is a foreign concept, sadly.

So I hope to get back into the swing of things soon. I may not be around as often, but I'll be here and rest assured, I'm stalking all of your guys as I was before. It just may take me a little while to get there.

Giveaway update

Hey guys! Thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway. It's going to take me a day or so to collate all the information to figure out the winner. The Rafflecopter widget contains only half the entries, as leaving a comment on the post was also a requirement. As you may be able to see, almost all the comments have disappeared, but they're all visible in my IntenseDebate account. So I basically need to put everything together and work out a winner. I should be able to announce a winner in the next couple of days, so stay tuned. Thanks again for all your love and support!

Eyeshadow: FFC Heartbreaker look

Here's another look using colours from the Femme Fatale Cosmetics Heartbreaker collection. I used three of the eyeshadows in my first look, so today I used the other two. I also wore one of me new Victorian Disco Cosmetics glitters. I combined them into a softer look that's quite wearable for Valentine's Day.

Eyeshadow: dark grey & burgundy

So this is actually my second look using my new Victorian Disco Cosmetics eyeshadows, but the first one turned out so bad, no one will never see it. I mentioned in my last post that I'd explain why. I had to suddenly go into the city for work for some emergency meeting, so I was in a huge hurry, which didn't help things. So now I'll explain why I looked like crap.

It turns out the colour I wanted to use in the crease (Death Star) was so patchy and dry, that it just wasn't working for me. I'd applied Ewok Pajama Party all over the lid over Pixie Epoxy and it looked great (although darker than I thought it would), but the crease was a disaster. I ended up having to use black heavily in the crease to contrast the dark lid colour, and then I applied Death Star to the edges of the black to blend it out. It was terribly messy and I just had to give up at a point.

Nails: Nubar Indigo Illusion

I just have a quick nail post for you all today. My eyeshadow was a complete and utter failure today so there's no way in hell anyone will ever be punished with pictures of it. Ugh. I'll explain why in my next post. So this week I've been rocking Nubar's Indigo Illusion. What an incredibly awesome nail polish. It's a dusty blue-grey base with a pink/purple sheen that shifts to green.

Review: Victorian Disco Cosmetics

Victorian Disco Cosmetics is a new indie makeup brand that you'll find on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/VictorianDisco). I've read a few reviews and thought I may as well give them a go, seeing how they have a Star Wars-themed collection and all. I also discovered that they sell glitter, so in the end I got six eyeshadow samples and five glitter samples, plus I received two free sample baggies of glitter. I bought these during their 15% off Valentine's Day sale, which is still going until the 15th of February.

My cute little bag of goodies.

Eyeshadow: super subtle glittery look

On the weekend I had a 1st birthday party to attend, so I wanted really subtle eye makeup so I wouldn't frighten all the children. I decided that if I was going to tame it down, glitter was definitely a requirement. I ended up using only three eyeshadows for this look and it only took a couple of minutes to do.

Swatches: Femme Fatale Cosmetics Heartbreaker collection

Those of you who regularly read my blog know I'm a big fan of Femme Fatale Cosmetics, an Australian indie cosmetics company created by the lovely Sophie. Today I've got the new limited edition Heartbreaker collection for Valentine's Day to show you. I ordered a full sample set to try them out and then I'll likely get full sizes of my favourite shades. There are five colours in the collection. Sophie includes a free sample with every order and since I have samples of every eyeshadow, I received a second baggie of one of the Heartbreaker colours, which I've now transferred into the one baggie. It also happens to be my favourite colour of the five in this collection!

Left to right: Flirt With Disaster (my favourite and also my free sample), Love Fool, Forever-Lovely Rose, Be Mine! and Lovely Charm.

Eyeshadow: just one blue

On the weekend, my sister was going to an 80s party, so she wanted to borrow some bright eyeshadows. While I was digging through my stash, I (re)discovered this little gem. I Nuovi was around in Australia a few years ago, but they seem to have completely disappeared now. It's a shame because their eyeshadows were totally awesome and really pigmented. This one is in the shade Emerald, for some reason, even though it's quite obviously blue.

Eyeshadow: shimmery neutral

Here's another look from the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III. I think I'll gave that palette a rest now! I was in a hurry when I did this, so I went for easy-to-apply neutrals. I also think this softer look would be appropriate for Valentine's Day, as there's not too much going on and it's subtle.

The colours I used are Smog, Snatch, Suspect and Pervsersion (black, not shown).

Eyeshadow: purple, teal & dark green

Today I gave some more love to my Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III palette. I wanted a darker look for today and I managed that, although these photos make it appear darker than it actually was. I even wore one of the worst eyeshadows known to man: Uzi. I decided I didn't care about glitter fallout today.

The colours I used are Uzi, Loaded, Haight, Bordello and Psychedelic Sister.

Nails: Sally Hansen Fractured Foil

This post is way overdue! The other day I showed you all Revlon's Fire Fox and mentioned that I had some tip wear. I decided to cover it up with yep, another crackle polish. This time, I used Fractured Foil by Sally Hansen. I hadn't used it before, but it appeared to be a much cheaper dupe for OPI's Silver Shatter, so I grabbed it when I had the chance.

A silver crackle polish, much like OPI Silver Shatter.

Eyeshadow: golden cranberry

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last couple of days. I've been without my PC since my hard drive died and now that I've got it back, in my spare time I've been working on it to get all my software and bits back. Very time-consuming. Anyway, today's look is using the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III palette, which I've neglected for a little while now.

The colours i used in this look are Perversion, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Last Call, Rockstar and Maui Wowie.

Eyeshadow: smoky green

Here's another look using the Sleek i-Divine Original palette. Check out my numbering here. I've done a couple of looks using this palette, but I haven't touched the greens, so that's what I used today. The only eyeshadow I used that's not from the palette is my brow and inner corner highlight, which I've talked about below.

Weird bug: country-specific URLs

Hi all. Google is starting to use country-specific URLs for Blogger blogs, so of course this means bugs. I'm sure a lot of you already know Jerry from Silhouette Screams and she mentioned the problem that I'm now having a few weeks ago. Her post can be found here. Basically, since I'm in Australia, I can only view the .com.au version of my own blog, which shows only comments that Australian readers have left and my corresponding replies. The ordinary .com version of it shows only international readers' comments and none of my Aussie readers'. I can't even see the .com version of the blog!

I can't even email Google (let me know if I've got this wrong), so I've been forced to post the issue in the forum in the hopes that someone can come up with a solution. For now, since I reply to comments via email, I'm able to at least read everyone's comments and reply, although some of them may not appear on my blog, depending on where you live. Fingers crossed a solution presents itself soon.

Nails: Revlon Fire Fox

I'm a little late in getting this nail polish post up. First of all, I took the photos two days after applying it, so I've already got some unattractive tip wear going on. I also stuffed up my thumb because I was fiddling with keys on my key ring a couple of hours after I first applied it, although happily, I don't think you can see that in these pictures. Anyway, enough rambling. The colour is Revlon Fire Fox, which is part of their matte suede range. I really like the finish on these (I also have the dark green: Emerald City).
